Dishes, jugs, cups and saucers, flagons, tygs and christening mugs….  For thousands of years pottery has been the favoured material for marking the bright or darker moments in personal and national history :  in peace and in war,  in life and death (and in some cases afterwards) Ceramics have commemorated and embodied our personal as well as our national rites of passage.  And let’s not forget the unintentional commemoratives….
